     Despite being a talented basketball player, fourteen-year-old Jeff Hoffman is not living the high school dream. Merciless bullying from fellow students has him feeling terrorized, isolated, and depressed. With little emotional support from home, Jeff’s despair turns into self-loathing and he flirts with the idea of ending it all.

     Everything changes when the team’s star player, Latrelle Travis, takes Jeff under his wing. Latrelle shows Jeff what it means to be a true friend and teaches him how to stand up for himself, both on and off the court. But Jeff’s hope for the future is snatched away when a racially-motivated crime leads to senseless tragedy.

     In the aftermath of heartbreak, families and communities are torn apart, and faith, integrity, loyalty, and friendship gets tested to the breaking point. Through it all, Jeff must find the strength to prevail and ultimately prove that in the face of adversity, we are all stronger together.
